The Frankie Kennedy Winter School (Scoil Gheimhridh Frankie Kennedy) is one of the most important events on the traditional music calendar. Named in memory of one of the founding members of Altan, the Winter School draws musicians and students from all over Ireland as well as from abroad. These clips feature the wonderful Séamus Begley, who travelled over 200 miles through snow and ice from his home in Co. Kerry to play at the 2010 Winter School. Here, he’s accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Tim Edey on guitar.
